The Datchet Flyer turned out to be just that today for the 100 minute pursuit race in 25mph plus winds. After 50 minutes with marks drifting and safety crews stretched the pursuit race was abandoned with Simon Hawkes in a good position and Ian Duke well placed in the advancing pack. Saturday saw perfect sailing conditions with three races back to back. Our faster handicap at 1065 resulted in the K1 being the slowest boat in the fast fleet and spotting the shifts with clear wind proved challenging. 3 K1’s competed with Simon Hawkes recording a 3rd and two 15th’s to be placed 10th overall. Ian Duke 48th and Mike Beckett 62nd. A great weekends sailing and despite the abandonment of the pursuit race the boat park was filled with broad smiles on all the sailors up for the challenge.
